i don't have a green thumb, more of a black crispy one. i tried taking some of the blackberry bushes that were literally 20 feet away from the enclosure and replanting them inside, but they died in an hour :confused:. ill keep trying tho, otherwise they get fruit from the local fruit market
 
I never transplanted black or raspberry bushes. They just grew in my turtle enclosure after a while from feeding them berries. Strawberries aren't hard to grow. Just pick up a few plants from a garden center and keep the soil moist around them until they become established. The turtles will love hiding in them and they are a good way to save money on food for them.
 
i have a small water pond, it has to be shallow because all mine are horrible swimmers. they don't really like soaking in it, just getting a drink. they are Florida box turtles, no tortoises, and i have more pics of them and their cage mates in the "gates avenue aviarium" link in my sig.

i never thought that seeds that got past the turtles could grow into plants, if it had happened the quail would have probably done some pruning. ill try again with some other plants, the blackberry bushes around here sprawl across the ground rather than climb, see if i can do somthing about that
 
what would be the point of fruit if animals didn't eat it and re-locate the seeds, i just hadn't seen any signs of any seeds taking root

i did some gardening and transplanted a few more blackberry bushes, ill look around for strawberry blueberry or raspberry plants and if i have to ill see if i can germinate fruit seeds from the farmers market
