I am eventually going to have probably 3 or maybe 4 livebearers with either a bolivian ram, betta fish, or dwarf gourami in my ten gallon tank... I am just waiting for the bacteria to build up before i add anything else...

My question is what type of clean up crew do i need for this amount of fish in that size tank? Snails? a sucker fish? Shrimp? How many of each?

I am extremely ignorant when it comes to this part of the hobby and any information will be helpful.... I do want to try to stay away from ottos because a lot of the research i have done points to them being very hard to keep alive...

any info is appreicated...

thank you very much...

What size tank? You forgot to mention that.

He said 10 gallon in the first sentence.

In a tank that small, YOU will be the best cleaner for it. There are very few algae eaters that will work, particularly if you rule out oto's, and of course, it will be a challenge to provide enough algae for them in that small a tank.

If you don't want plants, a mystery snail and 2-3 ghost shrimp could be added tohelp keep the gravel tidy, but you're honestly going to still need regular maintenance schedule.

Sorry I did not look at the sig. I never do pay any attention to those.

Anyway a clown pleco will be fine if you don't want ottos. Clown plecos only get about 4" I think.

Clown plecos do not eat much algae if any. They also need driftwood to gnaw on. I would skip on a pleco in a 10gal tank, maybe a few ramshorn snails.

than kyou for al the advice.... i went to a pet store today and they pretty much sold my on 2 albino cory's for the bottom and myself for the algae....

Thanks again...
