These were sold at the LFS as "Copper Harlequin Rasbora." However I cant find any information about this being a harlequin color morph or the like, so I'm wondering whether these are a different species. Any idea what they are?

Thanks

I have those exact fish. They are rasbora hengeli. They are smaller than harlequins. There is another kind that looks almost the same as the hengeli but instead of clear (where these are clear), they are red (espei).

Here is some info on them:

And I'm jealous. HOW did you get such a great pic of them? I have been trying and trying and mine turn out crap.

Ah, you have to have a GOOD camera..... I have an HP and it's, um, the quality of my pictures I mentioned before. I'm hoping to have enough Air Miles soon to get a Canon, I've seen good pics with those.

You'll like your pork chop rasboras. I am very happy with mine.

I know! this is the only respectable lfs in Kingston (pet paradise) and they just suddenly ended up with three species of rasbora a while ago. they had these, espie and regular harlequins. These were by far the nicest.

This store has been a bit suprising lately... they've had 5 species of apisto's in in the last couple months too. and their salt water section has increased 200% since christmas. I just have to talk the fish guy into getting a better selection of plants and I'm groovin.

The camera isnt all that high end, but its flexable. The SLR type cameras are really good in that they let you fiddle with settings, manual focus for instance, and macro settings... My 35mm SLR takes way better pictures in terms of clarity and quality of individual shots, but with the digital I can take 100 shots and throw 99 away, which is good too. Cant wait until the digital SLRs break 500 bucks. I will be on that like white on rice :)

anyway, I've been pretty happy with the fuji. its a little bit hard to mess with the settings, a bit of a learning curve. its just no the same as the SLR. But the fact taht you can just toss the pics you dont like is unspeakably good.
