Im sorry if this isnt the right place to post this...

a buddy of mine wants to buy my 5 Gallon tank, the hood, the heater, and 5 serpae tetras off me. he is asking $20, is this fair?

'he' is asking for 20 bucks? Tell him 25 and he's got a deal...its never fair to sell off aquarium products for cheaper than you paid for it but thats life...after all, you're trying to get rid of this stuff so if you can make a small profit from it while your at it good for you. :D

I think the price is fair. I mean, get what you can, ya know? What good is it sitting in a garage gathering dust.

As for the halogen lamp, I'd think they get too hot - especially for such a small tank. Most folks I know use fluorescent lights. They don't heat up as much.

Good luck to you!

I say sell it to him for 18, then never let him forget the great deal you gave him, and how you knocked off a couple bucks for him being such a good friend. Bring this up whenever you go out, at bars, resteraunts, the store, anytime a good guilt trip would benefit you. nag nag nag, and never let him forget it. You could come out way ahead!!!

13 watts is too much for a 2 gallon. You'll have algae galore in there in no time.

As for the price, get as much as you can. The formula I've always used is $10 per gallon new and 7.00 per gallon, used in good condition. 5.00 per gallon in okay shape. Those are round about numbers. My 10 gallon cost me $70 new, but my 150 cost me more like $2000, but that includes reinforcing the floor. :D
