Ok, I looked everywhere for this plant, that's supposed to be used to protect the guppy babies.. they all got eaten, minus one-because I only have one female guppy with two orange tetras(dad fish died shortly after the purchase).. my java moss few days ago, but its too small to be protecting the baby fish. I heard there is taller, bushier plant called guppy plant, but no one seems to have them(i looked ebay). Where can I get some, or buy some? I have to get some NOW before my pregnant female gives another round of baby fries!!!! i have paypal, so I can send payment through there, thanks!

I believe you are looking for Najas Guadalupensis. Sorry I don't have any or I would gladly send you some. But maybe just the name will help you find it.

Just looked on Aquatic Plant Central and there is some listed for sale. Try there. :)

ck, "guppy grass" is just a regular rootless/floater plant. Despite the name it has no particular guppy-protecting properties. Any plants you can find that grow thickly--be they stemmed/rooted, substrate planted like grasses or glosso, or floaters like najas or riccia--will provide shelter for fry to hide in. Or there's a plastic product you can get that is said to protect fry from predation--"breeding grass" I think it is called.

Easiest solution though is to just get a smaller tank like a 1 or 1.5 g, available at Mal-Wart or most any other pet supply outlet for $10-15. Make sure any filter is either sponge or has a pantyhose sock over the intake end so fry don't get sucked in. Put Mom in there when she looks like she's about to drop. When drop is concluded put Mom back in regular tank. No muss no fuss. And you have a spare tank for QT or hospital purposes when needed.

Guppy Grass is one of those green vegetable products that is most often passed from hand to hand among friends. (I am sure we can all think of other examples of such products. :) ) LFS's rarely carry them and in fact hate floaters as they are a nuisance in their tanks, unless they have one dedicated to plant usage alone which is rare. Just avoid the EVIL DUCKWEED, which has no known useful purposes and is a curse of Satan.

Dusckweed is also a great turtle munchie! My RES and Diamondback Terrapins get a treat from my community tank about once a month when it begins to look like a swamp on top.

i hate duck weed. I think its everything evil.

I have some java moss/guppy grass if you still need some, toddnbecka are notorious for great deals though if you havent already hit them up
