i need help raising ph

Just one more voice added to the don't worry about changing the pH. Quality freshwater is the best thing for goldfish, which means large weekly changes. If you use a product like pH up or down then it is hard to do large water changes or the pH will swing wildly. Just keep going with the cycle, and once established and the fish are doing fine keep large weekly water changes up to keep nitrates below 20ppm.

um....maybe this has been brought up elsewhere, but this tank is undersized for goldfish...

yeah i know its way way too small. another mistake i made before starting research. the goldfish are being relocated to a pond once theyre a bit bigger so that theyre less likely to be eaten.

thanks for the affirmation that im not hurting my goldfish with a low ph.

Throw some crushed coral in your filter, or add some lace rock, or 'dead' live rock. But as stated its not too important, especially for goldfish.

Or use a buffer. I used to use South American Buffer from Seachem I think. But you have to add it to the water when you change it and test it before you put it in to make sure you don't spike the ph one way or another. I also found stable ph to be much more important than perfect ph.
