I need help with angelfishies!!!

I might get an angelfish, but I have never had one before. And duh, I mean a freshwater angelfish...

I need some help. How do I take care of it...?

I need to know these things:

1. Minimum tank size
2. How to prevent it from dying quickly, because I know they're delicate fish
3. Food to feed it (Is normal tropical fish food okay?)
4. Anything else I need to know
5. The easiest angelfish to keep (Is there one? I've never owned a cichlid before... I'm new to this, soooo.....)
6. A website for angelfish
7. Umm, I'm asking for too much... he he....

1. AT LEAST 30 gallons, but bigger is better
2. they arent that delicate as people think. just make sure your tank is well established
3. tropical flakes are fine as a staple, but variety is best.
4. if yout tank is big enough, keep a school of 6, no neons or cardinals, and no blue gouramis (and the like), and other agressive fish.
5. the "easiest" angel to keep is pterophylum scalare, or the angel that you find in almost every LFS

if you have a choice between a 29 or 30..most 29's are taller and better suited for angels.(either of these will suit the minimum size.)
angels can be kept single but may fare better in pairs(not mating pairs in a commmunity tank)
if you get more than 2 you increase the chances of pairs forming..if this happens you may be forced to either remove the pair/pairs or get more tanks(MTS) :devil: you will probably not be able to determine sex when selecting angels(angels are difficult to sex).
the cardinal tetra is larger than the neon and has been suggested as suitable tank mates for angels..as are the black neons. but generally tank mates should be atleast 2"..hatchets work as tank mates as do other small cichlids(rams, keyholes) festivums(flag cichlid) can also be kept with angels..but these tend to get to 4-5"

domestic angels are fairly hardy as are the wild scalare..avoid altums these tend to be more sensitive to tank water condition(these are occassionally available at LFS as are some wild sclare and lepoldi's)there is a board for angels..

A very nice tetra to go with angels are the pristella........I have 5 of them in a planted 29 with two angels. I love how the yellow and black on the tetras stands right out and they're large enough not to become a snack for the angels.

Angels are not that hard to take care of. They perfer a very seasoned tank and optimal water conditions. They also perfer a planted tank as this makes them feel more secure.I would suggest no less then a 25 gallon tank for a pair of angels with maybe a small school of the larger tetras so they do not become snacks for the angelfish. Angelfish can eat the ordinary flake food but should be one of high quality such as Omega One. They also need protien in thier diet. This is to help them keep thier finnage looking nice. There are a lot of frozen foods that will benifit the angelfish such as bloodworms, mysis shrimp, plankton, and another one called emerald entree that my angels seem to go crazy for.
