I need help.

I don't think you should release them in the wild, not even in their native habitat. The stress of being shipped overseas and then being released into a strange world would probably kill it.

I would take some of the toads, if only they weren't illegal to buy or sell in Oregon. If I would want to buy any, I would have to go to california or washington.
 
By the way, I know once the firebelly tads become toadlets they are hard to feed, I have one right now thats got both front and back legs but looks quite thin, is it normal for them to get much thinner after growing out their legs. He/she was fatter just having the back legs, is it a sign I'm not feeding the tads enough?, besides what they get from scrubbing alge off the tank gravel and plants I give them Alge waffers, What other foods can you give tads, and young frogs, or tads that haven't left the water yet but have both front and back legs?.
 
You could feed them Daphnia (Water Fleas) if you have a pond around you they should be pretty easy to find.

After they are out of the water, you should feed them flightless fruit flies. Ask a Petsmart or PETCO for them, they usually have them in tubes with blue goo at the bottom.

I agree with you, no killing. Maybe the tads died because of the heat mat and filter. The person I bought mine from said just put them in a container with about 3 inches of water and they'll be fine. Unfortunately, contrary to popular belief, fire belly's are REALLY easy to breed. I've had mine about a month and they're full of eggs already! Also if anyone has a firebelly that's spinning round I've been told that it's probably an ear infection and, I know this sounds bad, to put the frog in the fridge for about 3/4 days as this kills the infection. He's been breeding all sorts of frogs for years so I trust his judgement. I'll let you know how it goes. Good luck with your froggies :)
