I think i have decided that i'm a hang on the back filter kind of guy. I have spent too many hours fooling around i with my canisters. I need another HOB to supplement my eheim 2213 on my 55G. I would like to stay under $50 new or slighty used. I only have 4 1/2" behind the tank
Which one to go with:
1. Marineland Magnum HOT Like a mini canister but HOB
2. Aquaclear 110 Lots of flow, media arrangement but very large
3. Eheim liberty Eheim quailty. Only $20 on marinedepot

No bio wheels allowed

The AC 110 will take up every bit of that 4.5", but it's worth it. I'm very pleased with mine. Besides, the more media space the better.

I thought the marineland HOT came with a bio-wheel. I got mine used and it has one.

I like the whisper 30-60's. I have two on each of my 55's. I take the top cover off and they are just fine. The tops do rattle some. Some folks hate the whispers, but I have had them for years without having to fix or replace anything, plus the replacement media last a long time and is easy to replace.

What kind of canister did you have? I had fluval 404's and they drove me nuts. I am going to go canisters again, but just a different brand.

well i have an used eheim 2213 and a now dead Via Aqua(cheap). I always have 2 filters in case something breaks. I just do not like the million hoses and the priming. I can not afford a Ehiem pro with prime button feature.

If someone has these filters can you please measure how much room they need for me, it would save me alot of headaches later.

my tank is 5.5" away from the wall, and my AC110 only has 1/4" clearance from the wall, so the AC110 will probably be too big for you.

i have a penquin 350 and a small whisper 40-60 on my 55 keeps it crystal clear

I have an AC 110, an Emperor 400 and a HOT Magnum on my 55g.

Has anyone used the ehiem liberty filters?
Anyone have a space needed measurement for the the Magnum HOT?

I guess the AC 110 is going to be too big with me only having 4 1/2" of space?
