i need male convics

i live in Greenville, North Carolina. i have a 37g tank with relativly small fish, 3 male black convics, 1 ice-blue zitaen, 1 fire-mouth, 1 terquise severium, and a small Jack Dempsy(but thats just until my new tank is set up and i either move him or the convics). i need 3 female convics for the males to breed with. if you have any advice id really like it because im quite new to chiclids and breeding...

PS i also have a small albino tiger oscar but hes going in my 50g tank as soon as it warms up to tropical temperature.

Female cons usually have orange on their stomachs.
The mails have a longer dorsal fin. It comes to more of a pointy tip. Females also tend to be smaller. This seems to go for pink and striped.
I'm sure it's not like this in all cases but in general I find this to be true.

Generaly when breeding most prolific breeders, you will want a higher female count than males. Eg 2f/1m. Also, you are going to run into problems breeding them in a small tank like that with so many other fish. Either the parrents will shed to bits all the other fish, or the other fish will eat the eggs/fry. Even the convicts who are not the parrents will have one of these issues.

ok ive semi-solved that problem ive just set up a 20g tank that in 2-4 days will be ready for the 2 breeding pairs im preparing to set up. but ill keep the 2f/1m idea in mind.

A 29g is the minimum for one breeding pair of convicts. IMO, instead of breeding cons, I would be saving up for a larger (or several larger) tanks. You have too many large, territorial cichlids together. Convicts also, in general, form monogamous pairs, so there would be an odd female out.

The oscar needs a 75g minimum. I would say at least another 75g (preferably a 90g+ ) for the rest of your fish if you slimmed your convict numbers down to 1 pair.

thanks. ive just set up a 30g tank and got 2 female. my other tank is not going to be my breeding tank, the local fish store is willing to buy or except donations, and my oscar is tanken care of he'll be fine in my other tank that isnt 75g but it is very wide and long only 1.5feet high.

no its 25-30 but only one pare got togeather so i seperated the others because i was told to have a bigger tank... though ive decided to move all but two from my 40g tank(but it looks more like a 70g.... how big would u say it is with 30length, 23 height, and 14 width??)

Edit: Will a 18" w, 3' L, 17"T, with 2 median size african claw frogs be good for an oscar?

2nd Edit: ok good news i think... they are...kissing i guess but i guess thats thme breeding being mouth breeders... is that whats going on or are they fighting?? im soooo confuse and excited!! this is my first breeding...
o i have a small rubberliped pleco (armored) in there with them. is this ok?? should i move m for now?? hes only an inch...and hes really quick...i need HELP!!!
