I need neon breeding tips plz!!!

Male more slender with a blue longitudinal line. Female has a fuller stomach and the line is bent. Suggest very soft water, at 75° F , 1-2° dGH and pH 5.0-6.0 with subdued lighting. The female may lay as many as 130 eggs on a green Perlon mat. As the female spawns the male embraces her so the female is nearly vertical. Remove the adults after spawning, allowing the eggs to remain in a darkened tank to prevent the growth of fungus. The fry hatch after 24 hours and are free-swimming within five days. Feed small pond foods.

Until very recently neons were considered unbreedable in captivity.

This is still true unless you're a specialist/highly experienced/motivated/wealthy fanatic.

Amateurs like me may wish to direct their attentions elsewhere.

Hi Everyone

Good information Lobo thanks!
Thankyou also FlyingDiamond on your information, yes I did buy the phup and ph down, I have used it when establishing my tanks. I don't have not used it since. My guppy had babies, unfortunatley, my husband felt guilty and took mama out of the nest box, I had put her in about 7pm, I went down and saw that she was hiding in the driftwood, and could see no fish at all, as they were all with her eating her babies as he gave birth. I took her out in mid birth and saved only 3 baby guppies. I told my husband I put her in there for a reason lol..He knew this before, but got drinking and forgot I guess.
More guppy babies to come in a week, and more after that lol.
I do have 5 more tetra's for my 30 gal tank, to keep the biologibal water healthy, as I only have 3 baby guppies in that tank. Lots of fake floating plants for them intertwining from right side of tank from top to bottm, and keep them all well fed. For anyone that don't know, your guppy when giving birth will hide in a chosen spot usually dim area of tank, sit, and swift movements of her middle to tail jerking like she is swatting something away. This is to help her with the birthing canal, to push the fish out. I had my camera ready, but didn't go down to the rec-room until it was all over at 10:30 pm, to which I had been watching her for hours before hand.
Though resting can also be taken for nesting. lol Both my neon tetra/guppy tanks have a temperature of 79F..I now have given up thinking of breeding tetra's. Before I know it, my tank will be over run with guppies, unless I let nature take it's course in time, and stop saving all the babies lol.

Thankyou for your reply Flying Diamond and all!

neon tetras unbreedable???

that was the first fish i bred when i decided to mess w/ breeding.

get a 5gal tank w/ a layer of marbles on the bottom & an air powered sponge filter. find 1 plump female and 1 or 2 suitable males (if you notice all the males following and picking on a large female this is what your looking for) the behavior you are looking for is the rubbing on the side of the female, they are trying to release eggs to fertilize.

have the tank already cycled w/ some plastic plants in it no more than 2-3" of water. leave them alone for a few days and you should notice small dots at the bottom of the tank. remove fish and wait. change 1/2 water every 3 days & keep temp constant 78-80.

i used a magnifying glass to watch the eggs develop. i dont remember how long they took to hatch, but they will stick to the marbles for a few days. when they are free swimming either feed them fry food or some boiled egg yolk thats been mixed into water. Keep the Water Clean.

moving them to a larger tank is a must and it will help them grow faster. Cull all deformaties.
