I Need Serious Help, Please Read!

Ok, well, our roommate just told us he is not staying. He is supposed to give us 4 weeks notice and now we are short $400 on our own rent! It is due by the 5th of Nov. Anyone know where I can solicit money from people to help us out this month?? We are desperate, I would try selling anything and everything, but No one buys, they always just pull you along and back out at the last minute. I need to raise $400 fast, please, this isn't a scam or anything. I'm not asking you directly for money, even though if you have some to spare, that would be greatly appreciated! And if you do, maybe we can work out some kind of loan.
I'm sorry this isnt the place to post this, but I don't know what else to do!

Talk directly to your landlord & explain your situation. They may allow you some leeway this month. Hopefully the leaving roommate is on the lease so the landlord can go after them.

best way to get 400 bucks is ask relatives and talk to your landlord.

verbal contract stands up in court, it's just harder to prove it. I have no money or time for court either way.
I've been trying to contact her, but no answer yet. Either way, getting a roommate takes FOREVER and is so stressful. Took us 4 months just to get this guy, and no he's up and gone.

if his stuff is still in the house change the locks....it is not a very professional or moral thing to do but it is effective.

change the locks for sure, or have them re-keyed. most communities have some sort of one time help for these situations. here it's called comunity assistance trust. you can only use it once though. if he left his belongings, sell those.

you could always take out a payday loan... I hate doing it but it has got me out of pinches.

also.. change the locks and dont give him all his stuff untill he pays you-- he sounds like a low life scum bag and if it were me he would have a broken jaw

This is a good idea... but you are gonna need about 6-700$ worth of stuff to get 400 from a pawnshop.. they are scandalous as hell
