I Need Some Help...

Hello. I need some help.. I have a 20 long tank, and I know for a fact that it is a critter cage. I have the tank filled to about a 2-3 inches from the top. My mother owned this tank for her aquatic turtles and also had the tank filled to about this far.
What are the chances that the tank will burst? I have been hearing so much about it and I am actually very worried about it. If anyone could gimme some feedback that would be great, this is really on my mind.

Hey, i just got the very samething a 20Gallon long that was used as a turtle tank. Just check the seams and make sure they are still in good shape. I am keeping mine in the garage filled up with water for a few days, just to be on the safe side. Whachta going to put in ? I am planning on figure 8's and i am looking for tankmates/bottom crew right now. good luck

I converted a large terrarium for a blue-tongued skink into a big aquarium (100 gal). the tank itself was fine, no burstage. good suggestion, gonecrazy, to try it first without critters.

for safety, tho, you prolly want to sanitize the tank. i use 1:10 bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts water). wouldn't hurt to apply that with a spray bottle, then scrub thoroughly with a sponge or dishwashing brush (i have several devoted to fish-only use). rinse really well with tap water until the bleach smell is gone. a final rinse with dechlorinated water (e.g. tap water conditioner) will also help remove any excess bleach, as bleach is a chlorine compound.

As long as the silicone didn't dry out (like sitting in the cellar for a few years) or wasn't damaged during cleaning you should be fine. Test it for a day or two (FULL) & if no visible signs of moisture you should be off to the races!!
(the reason I say full is to put the max amount of pressure on the seams. If it's gonna fail, you wanna know now!) JMHO Good Luck
