I need stocking advice.

My tank is a 10 gal. planted tank. I've decided that I want a Betta Imbellis, aka "Peaceful Betta" and some Dwarf Croaking Gouramis, aka "Sparkling Gouramis." (Are both those names accurate for the Dwarf Croaking Gouramis?) I know I have to choose one or the other between Cories or Tetras but I can't decide. I also need to know how many of the grouping fish (Gouramis, Cories, Tetras) I have to get to make sure that they are happy. Please help me. I don't want to overstock but I don't want to skimp on friends for the grouping fish.
 
I think the beta and the dwarf gourami will fight, and i'm pretty sure that gourami's are fine singly (mine is at least lol).

I've been living off of that species profile site trying to find what fish I want for the past week. I have been checking everything: compatibility, size tank, water requirements, current, acidity, temp., etc. I know that they are compatible, I just don't know how many of each and I was hoping for some input on the Cories and Tetras. Can I handle having both? I was figuring that I can only stock with one or the other since they are both grouping fish and I would need at least 3 or 4 of each. Which are more fun, interesting, pleasing to look at, etc.?
 
They say 6 minimum for a schooling fish, with more being better. I've never tried it... my ten just has 2 mollies and a dwarf gourami in it.
 
Oh! I didn't catch that! I guess I can't go with Cories with the Dwarf Croaking Gourami. That answers that question.

So, how many Gouramis and Tetras should I get?
 
They told me to go with 1 gourami and 6 tetras, though if you can find the little cories (panda or dwarf) they can fill that slot. They also told me that for that one instance, 3 cories would do all right, though 6 would be better.

(remember, just relaying advice I was given previously :) )
 
On that species profile list it said that the Dwarf Croaking Gouramis are a grouping fish too. I don't think I should go with just one.
 
lol, missed that too... i have a normal dwarf gourami, not a croaking one. So I have no more info to give you ... hopefully someone who DOES know what they are talking about will stop by sooner or later lol.
