Arrggghhhh........sorry folks but I need to vent. My history with the cursed disease Whitespot has been a long and tragic one. Long story short I have suffered wipeouts, extreme frustration, tears and seen almost the end of my passion. However......since investing in a QT some 18 months ago, allowing my DT to go fallow for about 15 weeks and ensuring anything wet goes through my QT prior to its arrival in my DT I have surely conquered it.

About 4 days ago, after spending about 7 weeks in the QT my Coral Beauty angel was placed in the DT.

OMG......last night I witnessed my desjardenei tang scratch. Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasnt quite a normal whitespot sort of scratch but nevertheless he swam slowly, almost upside down and brushed the upper part of his head on the substrate. I searched him intensely. He is rather good that way. Whenever i peer closely into the tank he comes right up in front of me and displays. I could not see anything spotish at all. Also I was convinced the coral beauty did not have the disease or else I would not have put her in the tank to start with.

I so hope I am over reacting. I must be!!! Surely it can't be happening again. I guess all I can do is to continue to watch closely, cross my fingers and hope to God its not what I dread.

Anyways......I feel a little better now. Thank you for allowing me to vent :-)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have no idea what the heck you're talking about (newb), but it sounds like it would make me angry too!

:swear::swear::mad2::mad2::swear::swear:

Glad you feel better.

Watch closely. I think things will likely be fine, though. The tang could have been doing something as simple as dislodging some old scales or skin that was irritating it or something similar. Or a piece of something could have lodged onto it and it was merely trying to scrape it off. Any number of explanations other than Cryptocaryon. Then again, I don't want to dismiss that possibility altogether, but theoretically it should have shown itself by now.

Hey yes....thats true. I did not think of that. It should have shown itself by now. Thank you for that.....feeling much better.

Oh no....wait......theres still the possibility, faint, that it was on the coral beauty
