I now have some fish in my 30 gal. I have 6 guppies and 3 black mollies. One of my guppies seems to be more interested in hanging out with the mollies than the other guppies. Is that normal?

I wouldn't worry about it. Guppies are not typically schooling fish and do their own thing.

Oh. I thought they were. Thanks. All the other guys seems to love to hang out together. Thanks again.

Yea!

:dance2::dance2::dance2:Can you post a picture of your tank?

Congratulations on your new fish.

I'll try to get a good pic. The guppies are pretty shy when the lights are on, and i think are still getting used to the tank. Gonna get some tab fertilizer and plants for them to play with.

My smallest molly is mean. I think its a her. She has three fins on her underside. Two of mine are like that. And the third has one fin on his underside but he has longer dorsal fin. I think he might be a sailfin. But my smallest molly is a bit of a fin nipper. I think she is scaring my guppies a bit. A friend of mine is giving me a free 55 gallon and my girlfriends mom might give me her tank and fish.

The way you tell male and female in guppies, mollies, platies, and probably many other types is their anal fin. If it spreads down and it able to be moved freely while swimming it is a female, if it is rigid and stays up close to the body it is male.

At least that's what I've been told

Oh thank you. Fortunately those were the fish with the 3 fins in their underside. The one molly was put in her place. One of the guppies got mad and and nipped her face. Everyone has been perfectly fine since then.
