Ok so friday i called into an LFS i use for supplies its a chain store that i don't buy fish from because IMO they don't look after there fish and its not abnormal to find dead fish in there tanks. While i was there i thought i would take a look at the fish, When i came to the african cichlid tank i saw this lovely rusty cichlid. I've been looking for a rusty for a while and after spending 1/2 an hour watching the fish all looked ok, Now for the stupid bit i decided to buy him. I took him home and settled him into his new tank by using the drip method to acclimatize him. To start with everything looked ok yesterday morning i fed my fish and he ate with the rest, I kept an eye on the tank on and off over the day and all looked ok. Last night when i went to feed them i noticed that the new rusty had a long length of white poop coming out of him:eek3: . The poop was around 3" in length and almost transparent apart from this he is acting normal eating ok. My water parameters are ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate 30. The tank has been set up 13 months, his tank mates are 1 yellow lab, 1 red zebra, 1 bumblebee and 1 bristlenose plec.
Can anyone help me with this im not sure what it is and want to sort it out before he infects my other fish.

possible internal parasites..? You didn't have a QT available?

No i didn't have a qt but i've just set one up today and started cycling it. Should i just keep an eye on him and maybe treat for internal parasites if he starts acting odd or stops eating?

Thx for the post Steve

i would definitely treat for internal parasites. i do that first thing with all new fish from places i'm not 100% sure of.
