Hey so i just spent about 100 bucks on fish over the last couple weeks and now I think i have ICK! damit, my foolish mistake, should have quarantined my fish. Well too late. My fish have tiny white dots attached to thier finas and body. I will try and get a pic up soon. What treats this stuff fast?!

If you have ick, you should get out of your fish tank before you give it to the fish!

Sorry, couldn't resist. Upping the temperature will shorten the life cycle of the ick, and using table salt will help kill it. Someone smarter than me will be along with details, or you can do a search. The details are in the forum somewhere, I'm just too lazy to find them for you right now.

no, itts cool. i knew about the temp thing. They are all tropical fish and the temp it about 79.0 right noe. Do you think it would be okay to up it about 2 degrees? Say 81 ish? I cant get treatment for it till tomorrow.

Use a tablespoon per 5g of table salt and then increase temperature to 86 degrees Fahrenheit provided your fish can tolerate it. Turn on all airpumps when increasing temperature.

You can go to your local aquarium shop/pet shop and ask about a suitable medication for your requirements. As you already know, raise the temp. Regular water changes will help as well. If the number of fish with ick is greater than the number without ich, you might want to remove the fish without it to prevent them from getting it too. When I had an outbrake of ick in my tank it took a month and a half for it to diminish! It depends how bad the outbrake is as to how long it will take to get rid of. Good luck!

there is one medication that has helped me out and that i personally recomend, it's called Rid-Ick, you can find it at your LFS, it really works good!
