My striped angel and my gold angel. from what I can tell are courting. They spend most of their time together, they keep flashing their fins ant each other (by this I mean they swim at 45* angle, and swim around the other fish, then visa versa) They also dangle their fins in front of each others face. They pick at plants together, then one will 'gently' peck the other ones side (not hard at all) I see them cleaning gravel. Am I on crack? or is this really them in a spawning ritual? These are the first angels that I have kept. I got them when they were jeuvies (about the size of a quarter, bdy not fins). The tanks been set up since febuary.
On a side note since I was new to angels I did a dumb thing. I got 3 because I wanted a variety. A black veiltail, a silver and black striped (looks like an altum only more silver), and a gold. They have always gotten along and also with the other fish. I got them from very small so they would be less aggresive with the other fish (at least I did that right) Well now Its the striped angel and the gold angel that look like they are courting. Wich is fine by me, the babies will look cool i think. The problem is, now they are shunning the black veiltail. It isn't super aggression, but there is aggression and it may be progressing. I have grown attached to all the angels they are my favorite fish, my showpeices. I dont want to get rid of my black angel. But I also Cant really afford nor do I have room for another tank. But I am afraid he will eventually be killed by them (from what I have read about mating angels) What can I do?
Get a new tank for the black angel.....and stock it regular ( I cant have a tank with a single angel in solitary) Get a breeding tank for the 2 lovefish? Give back my beauty veiltail to the store ? Kepp in mind my girlfriend has veto power LOL
