I think my Bristlenose has Ich

Yeah, I looked in my cupboard at home last night, and I found a bag of cooking salt, which did not list iodine on the ingredients anyway, just salt and an anti-caking agent...

I started upping the temp and adding salt last night and also did a 20% water change. so far i've got 15 tsp of salt in the tank and will up this over the next couple of days to the equivalent of about 10 tablespoons.

Thanks for all your help!

The Ich cyst runs a 10 day life cycle. When I was breeding ( 44 tanks of various size ) I used this method and this method only to rid a fish of the parasite. 1.) Crank up the heat..I ran mine at 88 - 90 2.) Add air stone or two..you say you have a 55..I'd go 3 or 4 air stones 3.) Water changes every other day of 50% 4.) Back off on feedings..stop them if at all possible. 5.) Run the tank like this for 14 days. And you can add salt too if you like. Some do..I never did. Just my two cents of opinion. Good luck and enjoy the coolest hobby on the planet =)
