One problem though ... it's a male. :(

Seriously though, this molly's stomach looks way bloated. He's easily 0.5 times larger than the other mollies. And all he does nowadays is hang out at the back of the aquarium by himself and just swims in the same spot looking bored. Either that he's sleeping at the bottom of the tank, while everybody else is swimming around. He still eats when I throw food in the tank though. It's about the only time he comes back to life.

I think he's sick. Am I about to lose another fish?

It sounds like he is not feeling well. It's a good sign that he's still eating though.

He could be constipated, which is treatable. See http://www.fishjunkies.com/Disorders/constipation.php

On the other hand, he could have a tumour, which is not treatable (as far as I know) at least in small fish--I have seen pics of surgery on a large goldfish to remove a tumour. In that case all you can do is keep him comfortable until the time comes, and meanwhile read up on euthanasia in case it becomes necessary. My first betta died of a tumour, he was in good spirits until the end, when he was unable to swim properly and had difficulty surfacing. I would have euthanized him them but since he was technically my son's fish and my son was very upset about the concept of euthanasia he ended up dying on his own before my son and I could agree on what to do.

OTOH, if his scales are sticking out so that he looks kind of like a pine-cone from above, he likely has dropsy which from what I've read is difficult or impossible to treat, hopefully someone more experienced than me can comment on that.

I'm sorry that your molly is not well, I hope he is able to make a good recovery.

Well, he died about an hour ago .

R.I.P. little molly.

When I took his body out of the water, I saw that his belly was really, really bloated. I was half way tempted to cut him open. It's not like I'd know what I was looking at anyway, though. Plus it might've been too gruesome.
