I think my parrot fish is breeding (on his own??) HELP

Added her a new friend today. A parrot of almost equally size (barring about 1cm) unfortunalty the aggressivness was such that I have had to remove the new fish, as it was getting serverally attacked (a couple of scales have been damaged/removed)

This parrot has been so aggressive since I have had her that I am gonna sell her to the LFS that I bought her from tommorrow and keep the new one and nurse it back to health.

I guess when you are dealing with aggressive fish, you cant always win :(

Shame as she was my favourite fish.

Hey Rob,

I have two BPs that went through the same process several times. I definately have one male and female parrot as only one actually deposits the eggs. They have gone through a couple of cycles now about one every month or so. My clown loaches have no problem gobbling up the eggs as these parrots are not too aggressive in defending them. I understand that because these fish are a hybrid, there is almost no chance of successful breeding. Something about the males being sterile. Anyway it is interesting to watch.

Yes I must agree it fascinating to watch. All males are sterile you're right, shame really as I would love to breed them.

The new one has settle down and I am fairly sure he's a male (been flaring and doing other blokish things) he was the less agressive and has now established himself in the tank so I am going to try and add the female tommorrow without and decor moving and see what happens.

I know this is noramlly the way to end up with dead fish and lots of trouble but I am gonna keep a very close eye on things and at the first sign of trouble whip the more aggressive female out and I'm afraid shes gonna have to be sold to a lFS :(

Thanks to all for the cintinued help/advice :)
