I just got a 55 gall tank and i want a really cool fish
I want a fish that makes my friends go WOAH Whenever they see it.
Do you guys have any suggestions
 
hmm

some raphael catfish or pictus cats. But then again, I am just partial to cats.
 
Get an Oscar. They are like dogs inside an aquarium. Smart, tame, will eat out of your hand. Put on a good show hunting goldfish (for about 5 seconds...)

All around personable. But don't overstock with other fish... and nothing too small... If it fits in his mouth it will go in his mouth....
 
Put your fish in the freezer. It will not only be cool, but cold and freezing. BAD JOKE.... I'm a :sick: person, I know.

For something extra cool, you couild get a bichir. They are snake like fish, but most will easily outgrow a 55gl. tank.
 
Cichlids. They always make people go WOW! They are so bright and colorful and full of personality.
 
Cichlids rule!!!!!!! :D but eels and such are nice as well as some loaches.
 
If you have limited experence and you want something different you may try Native Centrarchiade (sunfishes) the Bluegill (or Bream) is one. There are several different types that you can probably go catch yourself for free. These fish will accept dry floating food in about a week or 10 days usually. They are extreamly tough, and aggressive. I had a Green Sunfish a few years ago that would attack my gravel washer. They are easer on plants (for the most part) than African or South American Cichlids ( I have a 5" bull bream in a 40 gal tank heavly planted) though you need to leave a bare spot for them to fan.

I kept Oscars and Jack Dempseys for a few years before I cought a Dollar Sunfish one day and thought that it would look cool in my aquarium and I have been hooked since.
