i posted this same question this afternoon in coldwater but havent gotten any reply yet. i want to add some more snails to my 35 gal goldfish tank, i dont have the room for a quarentine tank and i want to avoid putting parasites, etc from the lfs tank into my tank. ive gotten lucky before but i dont want to take any risks with my fancies. so any suggestions? a salt dip, how strong and for how long? or is there anything else i can do? i have some algae on my plastic plants and filter that my one mysery snail cant keep up with. thanks!

I have never had an issue with parasites from snails. Generally I don’t believe they don't tend to carry fish diseases. I think a salt dip would probably be a bad idea snails and salt usually don’t mix, usually it kills them.

Brigs really don't prefer to eat algae. I find they liek wafers and fish food much more, They do help with some algae but need to be feed vegies etc. Also Goldfish are cold water fish and Brigs (if thats what you have) need tropical temp water.

Removing the plastic plants and putting them in a strong salt dip then rinsing them would be better than introducing possibly sick snails to your tank.
