some one suggested that I breed my betta before his coloring is wasted. They said to get a matching female of of aquabid.

Is he worth breeding? I know there are a lot of bettas and very hard to get a profit off of. I have always wanted to set up Betta barracks and dan is on board with breeding and knows that it's a bit of work and we could be stuck with many bettas. This is a great reason for me to get betta barracks ;)

any opinions on him?

I don't know what kind he is or what to look for in a female.

if you are fully commited to the hard work and time that breeding and raising baby bettas takes then i would say go for it, as long as you have buyers or adopters for the babies BEFORE you undertake to start spawning.

he is really pretty! with the right female you could get some nice bettas out of the spawn. i personally would try to find a yellow female in the hopes of creating a unique colour combo in the babies. but those hidden phenotypes do come into play so you really don't know what you'll end up with when breeding pet store bettas. he came from a store, right?

FALCONS COLORS!!!! He really is cool looking, bettafishmommy is 100% correct, they do take a lot of work and commitment. Hope it works out (and that I get sent some fry)

Yes we will be ready.

I have this female, she's much lighter in person.

Do it do it do it :) I can just imagine all the jars setup all over the house separating the baby boys.

thats a beauty of a female! i would try breeding with a blue female to try and keep a few of the unique colors.

my opinion is that his coloring is a cull,.. that is he didn't turn out to be what was intended so i wouldn't,.. jmo,...

Why do you say that? Seems to be a pretty nice example of a marble betta to me. I'd try to find him a female halfmoon, ballyhoo. They say that the halfmoon trait is more dependant on the width and breadth of the female parent's finnage than it is on the male's so the wider her spread, the greater the likelihood of good halfmoon offspring. Given that the female will most likely be unrelated, expect to see a very wide range of colors in the first generation fry.
