Ich... i think.

THE BACKGROUND: earlier i posted about one of my guppies who gave birth to all still born. at first i attributed it to her bent and croked back. however, when i released her from the breader net, i noticed she was rubbing on all the rocks and she looked like she was shedding. since, i beleive, guppies don't shed, and she had white dots on her hind fin, i concluded that she had Ich. i treated my tank with Jungle Water's Tank buddies Ich clear. it fizzed alot (as it is supposed to do) and turned my water blue. however, the Ich was gone from my only symtomatic fish and, as my research directed, i continued treating a couple day after my symtoms disapeared. i only have treated for 3 days.

THE PROBLEM: one of my Corys thought it was fun to swim through all the bubbles when it was fizzing in the tank. all of my fish, except for this one, are fine. the fin on his back is clamped and sometimes his gills race. he has been behaving like this for 3 days (it has been 1 day since i stopped treating) and he has not developed any white spots. he is only active at feeding time. my ammonia SAYS it's at a healty level, BUT it's possible it's going wrong. just in case, i've done water changes everyday since he's been showing symtoms.

ANOTHER PROBLEM: my guppy with the croked back, i was wondering if there was anyone who knew if i should be concerned about this

Well, not sure about the pictures, I could not see anything in any of them. However, when I had Ich, I treated it by slowly upping the temp to 80-82 and adding aquarium salt (1-2 tbsp per 10 gallons)... took care of even the worst cases and despite what some people have said, it is FINE for cories and guppies.. mine all recovered from a naaasty outbreak brought on by a sick betta a few months ago and have been fine since.. even breeding.

As for the crooked spine Guppy.. well, I have a Zebra danio with a crooked spine, and he has been fine for a year.. sadly, I don't think there is much you can do about it, but they can still lead a long and healthy life despite it, as long as she is eating ok. I don;t know about the stillborns (sad, sorry to hear! ) but.. I think all you can do is continue to treat the guppy normally and she may have a long life despite the spine issues..

I too had danios develop a crooked spine as well as some corys. I found out that my corys were underfed and thus were too skinny and just looked deformed but my danios stayed the same. I assume it was just genetic since they never acted any different than the others.

okay. well, it's a releif my guppy is okay. i'm actually sitting her for the summer from college. =)

I don't think i can use aquarium salt because i also have a dwarf african frog in my aquarium. have i treated long enough? no one has the white spots. any idea on my cory's strange behavior?

I'm not familiar with the product myself...does the packaging say how long to treat for?

it said that it should be better with the first treatment.

Actually, I also have African Dwarf Frogs, the salt is fine for them too. I treat my tank with salt with every water change, and the frogs are fine.. old, fat, happy & breeding.
