you guys mentioned to me to add salt to the tank and heat the water up to around 84 degrees,

iv done this and continusly added salt to the tank every night for the past 3 nights (1 teaspoon/g ) and my fishes espescially my green terror still has ick and it seems to be getting worse,

im i doing something wrong?
why isnt it working?? :[[

STOP ADDING SALT!!!!! Salt doesn't just leave the water after a day. You need to do several HUGE water changes right now. Once you feel you have got most of the salt out you can add 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Then in 24 hrs. do a 50% water change. You can then add just enough salt for the water you replaced not for the whole tank. Then wait 24 hrs, do a water change, add more salt.......... And repeat. This will require daily 50% water changes with only enough salt for the water you replaced. Adding too much salt to a freshwater tank can stress the fish causing the ich to get worse and can eventually kill your fish.

In addition, the heat speeds up the life cycle of ich so it should technically be spreading. The salt only kills the free swimming stages but to get there the cysts need to develop. Many people see this and then come to the conclusion that the treatment is not working.

I think your salt is okay but like jpappy said you have to keep the water heated however I would keep it between 85-87 if possible and the ick will clear

1 tsp per gallon is fine... even 2 is ok
DONT ADD MORE SALT UNLESS YOU ARE CHANGING WATER.. salt doesnt leave the tank

and 84 is fine as well.

just keep doing it.... you can never guarentee you will win the battle.. all we can do is help your odds out

when i do waterchanges and i add amquel with it to remove the chlorine from new water being added and i go ahead and add the salt after the amquel????

Yes, and only 1-2 tesp of salt/per gal to the new water amount!!
