ich issue

OK, i've been treating my 10g tank for ich sence yesterday.Doing the salt thing, changing the water, lowered the water lvl to help create oxygen,turned the tank temp up...all that good stuff.But, i have 1 fish that is still covered in ich.They are getting worse on this paticular fish.The ich are clustered on his head between his eyes, on his gill and on his eyes.The ones on the fins and tail seemed to have dropped off.But the remaining and new ich seem to causeing him issues.The rest of the fish are ichless for the moment.But whenever i add the salt ..as directed..haven't yet reached the recomended dose,so im still adding salt.But anyways when ever i add the dose this fish becomes more and more stressed and the other fish are sort of shunning him away.I dont have another filtered tank to put him in and i cant just stop adding the salt.Im affraid he want make it with the temp change,chemical change and being picked on by the other fish.What else can i do? what are my options...ugh what should i do? just keep treating and pray.I've slowed down on the salt doses from adding 1/4tsp evry hr to 1/4 teaspoon every 2-3 hrs, im trying to give him a chance to adjust but he just seems to week.he still swims around activey and eats just fine,but his color is gone,he seems a bit weak and i can see right through him.Would be VERY greatful for ANY help on this one. Oh, also, i've brought the temp back down from 84 degrees to 80...he still seems stressed out the poor guy has just become overwelmed with ich in the last 2 days.I doubt he can even see well or breath well.

There isn't much you can do except continue with treatment. It may have been too late when you started, or it may not be. Salt is far less stressful than meds so there isn't really a lower stress way to treat ich, unless you have several empty tanks at your disposal. You may bring the temperature down to normal tank temps (Slowly of course). High temperature speeds up the process but is not a requirement to kill ich as long as the salt is in the water.

ty bunches dave.I decided to try something early this morning.oh,and i finely got the temp dropped back down to the norm, when i left the messege i was still in process of doing so.But, this morning i dipped the poor lil bugger in a cup with a ton of salt and very warm water.Brought him near death,he was laying in the bottom of the cup fighting for his tiny lil life.The majority of the ich dropped off, i slowly scooped tank water into his cup while removing the warm salt water and brought it back to temps of norm and chemicals of norm.then i rushed him back to his home.Risky, i know especially sence this is something i have no clue how to do...lol, i winged it and followed my gut.But, atm that little fish is back in his tank and for the past hr ive been able to see his color,he's swiming around happily and even taking his place back as head honcho with the other three neons in the tank.So, i 've dropped abit of antibacteria food for him in there and so far so good.But, ive still got to get the ich out of his tank.I hope he can get strong enough to fight it and deal with the chemical changes.No telling how much damage i just caused him.When i did the emergency dip, he was floating on his side in the tank, thats when i rushed him into the cup. and i have nooo idea what the condidtions were in that cup...it was like 1 tsp of salt to....1 foam cup of water,lmao.whatever amount that is, and it was warm tap water..no idea what temp i had it in there.I figured..its worth a shot, he's about to die anyways.He's a fighter though,atleast it would seem.lol, i will most likely find him floating tonight.....he's prolly running on fumes of fear,lol.
 
and the funny thing is, when i started this treatment, i could only see about 7 ich spots on all 5 fish all together, lol...that 1 poor fish practically had a white head and gill area when i dipped him.I know they must have all aready been on him and the temp spead up their growth...wow how those things just sneak right up on you.Im guessing he must have already been ill for the ich to cluster on and single him out like that..................ugh.soooo,do salt treatments work on other fishy illnesses as well? lol, im hoping to kill a few birds with one stone here.Im not sure he could handle anymore sickness treatments.lol, poor lil guy.I went and spent a ton on vitiman foods and illness prevention foods..can that halp?

Please read the article that Dave linked in. Salt dips do not work and will do your fish more harm than good. You cannot kill ich when it is on the fish, only in the free swimming stage in the tank.

Then why did you do the salt dip, and more importantly why are you still asking questions that the Article Covers? Is my Writing that difficult to understand? ( That is a sincere Question not sarcasm)

no, did you read the second post?lol...ugh, im not well with communication.Not,too long after i made my first post,his condition turned for the worse and he was just about to die, so i decided try the dip as an emergency thing.This was over night early in the morn b4 i even had a chance to read your reply to my post.I only did this to one fish that was half dead.

That sentence was in reply to Roan Art because that person thinks i believe the ich is cured from the fish.I know it is not, i just wanted to get some of them to drop off.I could see that he couldnt breath well, the ich were clustered BADLY on his gils, i tried adding more oxygen and it didnt work, so i decided to try and get the ich off.It worked and he is fine so far.But, I STILL must fight the ich in the tank and the salt treatment CONTINUES.Anyways, i was just basically giving you an update on what happened during those scarey hours of the morning.not underminding anyone.And the only other question i asked was if medicated food may help, this rare case is not covered in your article.So, i was basically asking your oppion about the food.I've never used it before.I do opologize for any confusion.


It just so happend by chance that maybe the ich were ready to drop and putting him in a very warm cup of water halped fast farward that part of the life cycle.......im guessing this was a chance,once in a life time thing.Not something i would recommend any one else to try.

Anyways, i know that it is just one tiny little $1.27 neon tetra.But, im a small woman and what i lack in girth i more than make up for in heart.I couldn't just sit there and watch this little fellow float liflessly and die in my tank w/o saying i did all i could.Lol, i know....im a HUGE softy over the silliest things.
