ok i read a few things online about it and i couldn't get a real diagnosis on my fish (a black molly) only the fins are sorta white and clear and i see silver sort of slipping out of his gill when he breathes
i dont really see any spots on his body but im just a tad worried
just asking here cuz it is a BLACK molly and figured his fins just havent gotten black or grey or something yet
anyways replys are welcome
and he is quarantined for now

ich will look like your fish is sprinkled with salt. your molly does not have ich according to your description.

the silver 'slipping out' of his gill when he breathes is the inner gill cover, and it moves when the fish 'breathes'.

fins are very thin, sometimes only a few cells thick on certain fish, and that may be the reason they seem transparent. it would be best if you could post a photo so that we can be sure you are not dealing with a fungus or bacterial infection of sorts.

kudos for quarantining!

Ianne.. look into flex/columnaris... and fin rot. See if those better match the symptoms you're observing. Let us know more then... we're happy to help.
