after having an ich free tank for a few weeks i some how stuffed up and got it back. i noticed my neons and guppys rubbing against the rocks and sand in my tank and now one of my angels has started darting around every now and then. I'm quite sure they have ich but i havent seen the salty looking bumps on any of them. i have started salt and heat treatment for the ich but wanted to know if it might be somethign else doing it.

15 neon tetras
2 juv angels
2 male guppy
2 bn plecos
1 kulhi loach (spelling might be wrong)

2 Female guppy in breeding tank.

i already know plecos dont like salt but they can stand it long enough to treat ich as i was told.

how big is the tank?

I would agree Ammonia or even Nitrite can cause that.

Perhaps the med screwed up your bacteria and you've hit a mini cycle causing either and Ammonia or Nitrite spike.

The key here is find out what it is and act fast.

If its Ammonia / Nitrite then big big big water changes now and next few days until down to zero.

If its Ich then get the salt + temp change in now and strike while the parasite may still be vulnerable.

Since the last outbreak has there been anything different in your tank:

- addition of fish?
- filter problems?
- gravel cleaning?
- how many water changes and how often?
- whats your temp?
- whats your ammonia and nitirite levels?

i did a 90% water change 2 days ago to make sure it wasnt water probs. also its in my breeder/q tank and my main tank and i know i couldnt have both of them with high amonia or nirite. only place that i can think i got ich from is on my plants if thats possible or either with the tetras i got a week ago or the loach i got 2 days ago. hang on does ich affect plecos to? if so thats were it came from i had one in the breeding/q tank treating for a bacterial infection then rinsed it all out and set it up for the guppies. so the pleco could of taken it into my main tank and left it in the breeder/q tank. cause he missed to salt treatment cause he was in q! im sooooo silly.

looking at my breeder tank wich is all salted and heated up the guppys arent rubbing anymore and i havent seen any of my main tank fish doing it yet...but will see tomorrow.

You could also transfer it from tank to tank with your equipment, like nets.

i finaly saw the lumps on one of my female guppies there on the underside so its hard to see. same on a couple of the tetras so now just to wait it out.
