When treating ich, has anyone used "coppersafe" in a planted aquarium without ill effects to the plants or fish for that matter. I have a friend with a planted aquarium/and mostly tetra species, who is leaving his town urgently for 5-6 days, and can not monitor longer treatment options for ich, that require his presence. Any suggestions I can pass on would be helpful? I know coppersafe stays around for 1 month...but I have not treated ich since I was a kid...and then I used salt.

Ich/planted tank with tetras/emergency leave,so needs to act quickly

I am hoping for some advice for my friend who must leave his home for nearly a week and has no local friends/family to help him out with his fish/planted tank dilema? Are there no takers on this one?:help2:

I wouldn't use a med containing copper if he currently has, or ever plans to have, invertebrates in the tank. Snails, shrimp, etc. don't do well with copper (it usually kills them), and the copper will remain in the silicone sealant, substrate, and driftwood.

If it was my tank, I'd probably risk leaving the ich untreated until I returned and was able to take care of it with heat and salt. Maybe turn the heater down a few degrees to slow the ich cycle, and hope for the best.
