Well gettin ready to do a wc today i noticed one of my barbs had some white spots on hit tail fin! Gettin ready to head out to pick up some ich treatment but was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to the best to use. Tankmates are 5 coreys and 3 ghostshrimp. Thx for any help

Use something called kordon ich attack if you can find it
kills ich and safe for plants and your shrimp
and if you cant find that find an alternative read the label and if it says bad for inverts just take your shrimp out in a seperate tank till treatment is done
There is also the salt and hot water treatment which speeds the ichs life cycle
add 1-2 tbsp of salt per 5 gallons and raise the temp at around 80 degrees or more assuming your fish can handle it (temp parameters)
after its cured do like a 25% water change to return salt level to a tolerable level

Did a 30% change in water and picked up some quick cure...but got home and read not good for inverts. Only other tank up atm is a 5gallon with 3 tetras...should i just move them for a few days while i use the quick cure or take it back for something else? thx

I agree about the Kordon Ich Attack. I'm using it right now, with increased temperature to speed up the life cycle of the protozoan that causes Ich.

It is safe for all fish, inverts, plants, etc. I'd get that and then you wouldn't need to move anybody out of the tank. Treat the whole tank. You don't want to infect the other tank either, so you need to be very careful to rinse carefully your hands, all utensils, siphon, nets, etc., to avoid transporting the protozoan to the other tank.

Many many members here highly recommend the heat/salt method, but I've always worried about having the correct concentration with water changes removing some of the salinity, etc. I am having good success with Kordon Ich Attack. I do recommend it.

Calling around to try to find the Kordon brand.
Was to late last night when i got back to check around. Seems to have slightly improved from just the wc/conditioner treatment hopefully i can find some today or ill have to move the shrimp and go with what i have.

Ok couldnt find any of the kordon ich attack....did find ick out sensitive by wardley. Says it is safe for cats so i hope this will fix it without hurting any of them.

Ok so its over a week later and the ich seems to be gettin worse:(...went from 1-2 spots on the mossy barbs to 10-15 spots on them and now 1-2 on 2 of the other tigers. Im guessing the meds i bought are junk. Was wondering if i should try the salt/heat method? Is this a safe method to use with the ghost shrimp in there? If so can anyone give me a idea how to do this method with the least stress to my fishes? Also worried that the corys will be affected by the salt. thx for any help

Side note the brand of ich treatment i bought was Wardley Ich Sensitive

You've got to up the tank temp to around 83. This speeds the life cycle of the parasite. Ich meds won't kill the spots on the fish. The 83 deg will cause them to mature and fall off the fish. They will encyst and when they hatch to free swimming they will be killed. The fish will stay with spots until all of the parasites have matured enough to fall off and become free swimming. It takes a long time don't give up and don't stop dosing. I'm using ich attack on 2 plecos, one is spot free(after being covered in spots) and the other is now covered. Keep using the meds and higher temps untill 5 days after no more spots are seen. You've got to kill all of it.
