ichy situation

any help would be appreciated. i have been treating an ich problem with quick cure (formalin and malachite green) when i ran out of it before the problem was cured. went to get more, but was talked into using coppersafe. only dosed the tank at a quater of what was called for with the coppersafe. the next day my nitrates went up. my question is should i continue to increase the dosage of coppersafe, go back to the quick cure, or try the higher temps and salt trick ive been reading about?

if it helps, i have a 135 gallon tank with about 15 african and american cichlids and a couple of pacu.

Ok, this is just my opinion, but I would try the salt treatment. I use 1 teaspoon to 1 gallon of water. Its worked wonders for me. I've used the malachite green and found it a pain in the butt. Didn't work either. Never used the copper safe before so I can't comment on it. I use non-iodized table salt, but I'm sure some will say thats bad and that you should use Aquarium salt. My version is cheaper and I've never had a problem.

Have at it, regular salt and raise the temp....works all the time.

Copper is toxic to all forms of life, especially invertebrates. It's almost impossible to remove it from a tank once it is in there. It bonds on the molecular level with your tank silicone, decorations etc.,.

FWIW never use copper in your tanks.

Go with the salt + heat method. It's cheap and it *works*

Right now im tyring to picture two pacu's im my 180 gal and thinking how misarble they would be ...
