Nerites tend to lay eggs on plant stalks but the eggs, as excuzzeme mentioned, are not fertile. A lot of nerites came from tidal pools and require varying salinity in order for the eggs to hatch. The next challenge comes in how to feed the larva which only very few have succeeded. Even then, it was noted the young snails don't last for a long time.
