ID this: "blue" shrimp

That would be a low-quality blue-tiger shrimp. They usually are a paler blue, and they have orange eyes. You can tell it's neocardina though, which is the blue-tiger shrimp's genus.

The blue tiger is a caridina like msjinzd said not neocardina. I see these at my LFS and they are labeled as blueberry shrimp. As was said earlier these shrimps do not breed true. I wish they did though that blue looks awesome!

These are definitely Blueberry Shrimp. I purchased 30 of them from a local pet store about a month back. When stressed, the shrimp turn into a red/maroon color. More than half of mine have died within the first week. This is likely due to shipping stress.

I also have heard they do not breed true. I have a couple berried ones that sucessfully produced offspring, but they are too young for me to see any color.

Apparently, the rumor is that these shrimp are dyed with some sort of food coloring. I do not think this hold true as the shrimp still hold a deep blue/black color even after weeks since purchase. I'll see if I can get pictures up my shrimp in a couple hours. They're sitting in my tank at my office.

i also havek ept themand they are not dyed. My adults (which i had for over a year) kept their coloring. Rarely, a few offspring would get opaque as well. I think that macroalgaes were responsible for their coloration.

Ineresting. One of my shirmp was a bit maroon-colored on its back area, and I see that half of it is wine color now. I hope they don't die!
