I was thinking of going to a dollar store and buying some fake plastic ivy plants the glueing them to the back of the tank and let them dangle. What do you guys (and gals) think?

I would not recomend it because there is the posibility of toxins on them that could disolve into the water, but if you were careful and tested them in a different tank without fish and the water parameters were fine, then I guess it would save you alot of money instead of buying fake plants made for the aquarium.

i had a similar idea not to long ago. My wife said the same thing. It would probably throw off the water. But **** folks, have you looked at the dollar store plants and the aquarium ones. They are the same thing.

If figured the plastic ones at the dollar store wouldnt grow as much alage as a plastic one from the pet store.

why do you think that? currious to know. I've seen long rows of ivy for sale at fish stores before, fabric like not plasic. That would probably be ideal. If you use aquaium safe glue, I don't see why there would be a problem.

or you could hang it on the outside, behind the tank. Don't know if it'll look as good.
