Someone gave me a 29 gallon tank, and Id like to turn it into a great habitat for my land hermit crab. I have just 1, but Id like to add many more. Would play sand mixed with coconut fiber be a good substrate? Id also like to add some kind of automatic humidity gadget, if their is one. Suggestions would be welcome, I've read so amny different webisites, id rather get the best advice from here:)

I kept hermits once. All died though.... I would use coconut fiber/sand mix, a pool of saltwater and one with freshwater, food dish, DIY humidifier (look it up-saves u money!), a light, heater and some optional plants (houseplants will do fine, just have to be non-toxic). If you have any floor space left in the tank I would plant some seeds that you can get with a bird feeder mix. Makes a neat little garden for the hermit crabs to eat and prune :) anything else you need to know is on the myriads of websites out there. Also you might want a deep layer of substrate (about 30cm is what I had in my 10 gallon).
