Ideas and tips on Paludariums wanted for a beginner.

I think you should replace the dracena marginata, they get way too big and I think it would be too wet in there for it anyway.
Some ficus pumila would be good in there and would grow up and soften the background nicely.
Also if you want to grow nice moss, strong lighting is very important.

I Will replace the plant when I get there but at the moment thats all I could find. I would love to have a ficus pumila but haven't ever found one. It would look great growing and ataching itself to my back walls grout though.

As for lighting I have 3 t8 bulbs in it and its absolutley flooded with light.

At the moment only 96. However I am looking at getting some better lights. I just got the strip so I haven't changed them yet and at $15 a bulb plus a $25 blacklight I have been hesitant.

Well I went to lowes the other day and most plant and aquarium lights were 14 or more dollars. I am running out of money at the moment but I will get them as soon as I can.

Also How do I up my watts per gallon? I have seen some 40 watt lights and I have 32 watt lights but I want to run a Blacklight and 2 plant lights or a blacklight a plant and an aquarium and was wondering if you could get 60 watt plant and aquarium lights or how that worked.

I really want the blacklight but I don't know enough about lights to know the difference between aquarium and plant lights other than the box says they're different. I would like some help with that. And what is the deal with kelvins? Is that a measure of the wavelength which would be color right? or what?

Anyhow if you go by the total volume of my tank right now I'm running 1.1 wpg but if you go by the actual volume of water in my tank I am running at about 7.5 wpg. Speaking of my plants in the water are getting rough around the edges, do they need fertilizer or more Light? As for the plants in the ground they are growing great and already putting on new leaves.

Also any one have any thoughts on shrimp to put in here. I have no fish that would be able to eat them.

My grapevine began to mold today as expected so I took it out before It became covered and I plan on using it in a future gecko cage. I am now looking for a large piece of maylasian driftwood 20"+to fill in its spot any suggestions on where to get a piece as my lfs only carries pieces that are around 10". I need something for my anoles and treefrogs to crawl upon.

I dont think the wtg thing applies to vivariums like it does aquariums.
3 t8s should be heaps.
I wouldnt use fertilizer, they are probably adjusting to the new conditions and should come right.
btw whats the point of black lights? I thought they for basking reptiles?
also, mold is natural in a new vivarium and nothing to worry about. If you chuck some springtails or isopods in there they will eat it.

The point of my black light is to illuminate my Glofish which are flourescent when exposed to blacklight (uv) light. Also it should help keep my geckos and anoles healthy.

So these litte bluish/white dots of mold are okay? I would think that mold would be horrible for anything in the tank just like it is for us.

I think I will get a large piece of maylasian as I have some smaller pieces and it will keep it all matching anyhow.

the mold isnt good but its common with new tanks.
Just give it some time to establish before putting any creatures in
