Does anyone else suggest taking out the Activated carbon and bio balls. I have this idea.... because the back of the aquarium is also Glass i was thinking of just hanging a light back there infront of the glass (not in the tank) and putting LR rubble Cheto algae, and make it into a Refuge for starfish for my harlequin shrimp. does cheto need alot of light.. a suggestion for that would be nice, but i think im gonna do this.

Also i kinda thought about replacing the skimmer i heard it actually works okay but id love to replace it cause i love to mod :)!

It doesn't need a ton, but obviously growth and nutrient uptake will be increased with more light. I highly recommend that you still run carbon.

yea i just read about keeping the crabon.. the bio balls got to go though.. im not trying ot have nitrate leeched after 6 months out of nowhere.

any idea on a smaller good skimmer that would word good in a SOlana?

Sure, but they aren't budget-friendly. I recommend the Deltec line all the way around. It won't fit precisely in the Solana's back panel, but it will at least hang on the back of it, as will AquaC's Remora, which is also good. Many of the advertised nano skimmers are terrible, though.

are the two suggested under the "terrible" section?
