ideas for new 1100 gal. tank

weight wise well i gallon of water is 8lbs so do the math, i would say that you would have to have something like that on a first floor or else you will have to so some serious reinforcing. i cant even fathom (no pun intended) what a tank that size even looks like setup.

**** kyle12, sounds like you have some jealous people in here...

i would do a south american redtail cat, i know a guy who had one and said that when they were playing beer pong in the basement and the ball would hop into the tank, the redtail would attack it, lol.

Not jealous at all Just would like some actual proof of the tanks existance. It's obvious from other posts that Kyle12 has made, that he has access to a digital camera of some kind. So why not just take a picture of the tank instead of just linking to a site that has a picture from 2003? Also from his other posts he has a severly overstocked 29gal that he just set up. Why would you waste your time and money on a 29gal if you had an 1100gal tank? This site has had a serious troll problem lately and people are gettind tired of dealing with them maybe that's the reason for all the harsh comments.

Well, there ya go. Kyle, take a new pic of the tank. If you can't then please stop wasting everyone's time. Simple as that.

How much weight would a tank like that have? Wonder if you'd have to reinforce the floor supports...

At 1100galsX 8.34lbs/gal the water alone would weigh 9174lbs not counting the weight of the tank itself plus the gravel and other misc. stuff. Everything all together a tank that size would be around 11-12 thousand pounds.

Why are troll posts always the longest posts? I don't mind they also tend to be the most entertaining. Hey guys I am going to convert the first floor of my house in to one big tank. I want it planted. Do you think I need co2? I was thinking of cycling the tank with dolphins. Are there any aquatic trees? How many snails should I get? How hard is it to attach a freakin laser to a shark? Does anyone else have any exp with this?

you are a barrel full of monkeys, zen4t5.

Well, it wasn't stocked with sharks or snails, but I was once party to converting someone's entire living space into a tank. :)

One of our resident advisors in college had a 12'x12' basement room. He was gone for two weeks. We broke into his room and constructed a pvc pipe and pondliner pool that went wall to wall, leaving out only the space around his raised bed (desk was under the bed). Filled it with 12" of water and 30 feeder goldfish. Amazingly enough, we only lost a couple of the goldfish. Said remaining gold fish were later netted out into 5gal buckets and transported to his mother's outdoor goldfish pond.

My big hoo-ha on Kyleboy's story (well, besides all the obvious), who the hell puts that much work into a mega-tank without already having some idea what they want to put into it??

Heh...though if every fish he thinks is pergenant is, he can use this hypothetical tank to house the thousands of fry.

If I was to fill my basement up with water what kind of fish can I keep in it? I think I will then charge money for people to come swim with my fish.

Why didn't I think of that. That is genius, my friend. I say dolphins or sharks with freakin lasers attached to their head. Oh How about a large shoal of tuna? You can also have a sushi bar on the first floor. How about handing people a spear and they can spear their own fish. That is money in the bank.

See troll posts are fun.
