Must be frank here but, if your screen name is "i love cichlids", shouldn't you then be obliged to treat them according to their needs simply out of principal? At the very least, love them enough to know their species name and environmental requirements before bringing them home and dropping them into a tank?
The fish you're keeping simply put are not compatible on any level.
Also, typically, mother cichlids won't eat their fry and they keep them in a corner for security reasons. Also, the father helps raise the brood.
Don't mean to sound harsh but, get a book. It's cheaper than losing fish.
