Identify This Starfish!!!

Pretty, but it looks kind of predatory in my non-expert opinion. Another way to put it is that there are only a few species of stars I would trust, and it's not one of them.
it rather looks like a sand sifter that has an excessive number of legs, which is not terribly rare with starfish. Before you yank it out you should observe and determine what It does eat.
definately a freak of nature, last night the **** thing decided it wanted a buddy so it fissioned. so now i got two of them, is this a good sign of water quality or was it pure luck? by the way my tank is still cycling, been set up for 3 weeks, getting more live rock soon, hopefully with no crabs and other critters, so im not up all night trying to catch a crab about 2 inches long, really annoying. should i just rip these starfish out or keep them, im still not sure on what they eat, and if it is a bad starfish.

I think it looks cool. If you have the time watch it, and even try to feed it. If you can figure out what it eats you should have an idea whether or not its safe in your tank... Hopefully someone will be able to identify it and then you can google it. Until then enjoy it and watch it... I mean (Them)

Whoa cool star! where did you get it, or them, from? off the live rock? where did the live rock come from? (what part of the world, or farm raised)
Hey if you wanted to get rid of them you could always get something that eats them like a couple of harliquin shrimps. these expensive but beautiful shrimps hunt in pairs because it takes two to flip a starfish upside-down. very interesting! please keep us posted!

In my tank anything that comes in unwanted i just take it out and take it to my fish store. most of the time they buy it for a good price considering i got it free.now only if they bought aptisia. plus you got two of them. maybe you could try to breed them in a seprate tank$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :idea: . but what ever you do good luck.
I wouldn't trust it either. what do you have in the tank with it? I'd keep a VERY close eye on it at the very least and would probably put it in my sump or somewhere where damage will be limited if it turns out to be a beastie. I'd trust o.g. and Dave .
