I have 6 apple snails, in my community fish tank and i noticed their shells are becomming weak. My calcium levels are less than 100 ppm and should be around 300 ppm, if i add liquid calcium would i hurt the fish in the tank, its a freshwater tank...

I'd go with the crushed coral over calcium suppliment for ease of application, and overall cost. Adding liquid calcium may cause a pH shock to the fish. quite stressful. Instead get two handfuls of crushed coral, put it into a nylon mesh bag, and place the bag into your filter. Over time the coral will buffer the tank, instead of a quick shock like adding liquid calcium.

If you add the calcium do it a little at a time, once a day, for a week or so. This will raise it slowly, allowing the fish time to adjust.

Personally, I would go with the crushed coral in the filter method, much safer. If your LFS uses it in their SW tanks, they may be willing to give you some. Just raise it really well before you use it.
