I know I should feed them well and maybe raise the temp a bit, but is it necessary to lower the water level? I've been reading up on apple snail breeding and this seems to be answered differently everywhere. I have a tank that is mostly glass-topped, but there's an opening in the back for filters and such. Would they lay eggs in the canopy area that surround it, no problem?

I REALLY want to see some snail babies outta my cutie snails! Let me know whatever else you think I should know to make it happen!!!

Thanks!

What size tank and what are the inhabitants? You do need to lower the water line to te largest snail's diameter (2" for a 2" snail). Have you seen courtship? How many snails do you have?

I have 3 snails and goldfish in a 55 gal. My white snail is too small for sexual maturity, I think, but my gold has been what appears to be copulating with my purple snail on a couple different occaisions.

I tried looking for the gold one's little penis sheath but his name is Goldie Hawn and I think he's scared for everyone to find out he's really a man... he closed up tight when I tried to look but I plan to check again once I get home tonight.

I suppose I have to check the purple one too, to make sure she's female.

My friend named him before I told her about their sexual activities. I've had a goldfish named Lorraine for 4yrs and just found out he's male... can't change his name, though, cuz the dog knows "Lorraine" as the fish's name. We're a mixed-up bunch. :uhoh:

I'm having a hard time sexing these snails! I've never sexed snails before and I just can't tell what's what.
