If I tried my hand at breeding White tail Acei?

Oh my goodness, they look so good!!! So happy they went to you!

I think I had all female in my tank, they are all dark...I just recently added a new one that is much bigger and more blue, I was actually kinda worried it wasn't a true white tail b/c it looks so different in color I bet he is a male. LOL, that would explain why I never had babies, I gave you my boys ;)

LadyG, the demand seems to come and go for the TB Acei. My last group were around for 7 months before I sold them(they were the ones that bred in my growout). I now have two broods totaling over 70, and 6 people expressing interest in them. I'm in the same boat though, not looking to make a living at it, just a few bucks to support the addiction!

Ahh wish I had known. I could have sent some of the subdominant males back to you before Blue Lips(my dominant male) decided to snipe them.
LOL, no worries ;)

Have you tried aquabid at all? Just wondering how it worked out if you did.
I really love the look of these fish so having a few extra wont bother me, although have a few extra TANKS full may LMAO!

Oh my, how funny is that! Well, I'd have to get them if they make it....just seems meant to be :)

I've tried it, and made 2 sales on there. No different than listing it everywhere else in that someone just needs to want them when you are selling them. I know what you mean about the Acei though, my wife loves them too. They've affectionately become known to us as "the bullets" because of their shape! Here is a pic of one of the larger 7 month olds I recently sold. He was stunning.

Very nice!

I was wondering, do your adults have the yellow in their fins also? My Acei's had a bit of yellow when they were younger, but the yellow is gone, and just white. It was questioned if they were true "white tails" because of the yellow, so I'm kinda curious is this is normal for a white tail?

From my understanding Tanzania black (Itungi) and "white tail acei" (Ngara) are two different color morphs from different collection points. The Tanzania blacks have yellow tails and the Ngara have white tails but they are very similar other wise. If you do a search with those names you will find lots of info and pictures of the 2 different color morphs.

I prefer the Ngara and Luwala Reef (light blue body, yellow fins). :D

The Tanzania blacks are from Itungi as far as I know. The tails stay yellow, and at times almost seem to take on a flourescent yellow/green color. I have noticed that on the TBs that the edging on the dorsal seems more pure white, where the females' are more off white/pale yellow.
