if you cant find a fish, what does that mean?

I think your white clouds ate him with a nice chianti......phhht phhht phhht phhht phhht!

When my killi jumped it took me a week to find him... in the box of extra filter pads that I kept in my stand, underneath the pads.

How long was he missing before you started looking? It does NOT take long for a fish to decompose in your aquarium.

i check my fish when i get home every day - so less than 24 hours.

Still no luck, i also put my tong in there to stir the plants in case it was caught somewhere but nope. It's not under a decor i am sure, because i only have two decor, one is a 5-10lb solid rock temple with a sealed base and open top, the other is a large single opening cave.

oo well:( thanks for the help though guys.

I had 7 SAE and two Mystery snails in a QT tank. One of the SAE was biting the dust from shipping stress et al and hanging on the bottom. One of the snails started to eat him. He died quickly.

In ONE HOUR -- kid you not -- in just one hour all that was left was the bones.

That thought is nasty. I bet the fish jumped. It happened to me the other day with a male guppy. Sometimes they are way too active and the tank can't contain it anymore so out of the water in less time than you can say "what?". After looking all over throughout the apt. I found it already dried up when one of my Yorkie was sniffing him. Yes, I really liked him and I still miss him!

I caught a wild, HUGE, beautiful sailfin molly once. Whenever I get back from my secret fish catching spot I have a small tank on my back porch that I put the finds in to assess what I have and watch behaviour (ie; check for disease and other fun things like that). I stepped inside and then back out and when the door shut it sorta slammed and spooked the molly which shot straight up and landed on the porch floor and *zip* right in between the planks under the house. Man I was so mad... there was no way to get to it either.

Anyway, your fish may have believed he could fly as well. Sometimes when they come out the tank they are a little sticky from the moisture and slime coat and can end up stuck to the weirdest places.

Another possibility is that your fish may have witnessed a horrible criminal act and is now in the guppy witness protection program. If that is indeed the case, be on the lookout for anyone fitting the description in the following surveillance photo:
