If you had a big tank............

Really, I would do 1 of 2 things:

1. Huge school of Congo Tetras in a heavily planted tank. Amazing.

2. Red-Tailed Giant Gourami. Gouramis are fantastic, and the Red-Tails are at the top of the class, IMO.

My dream setup:

1) 500 gallon with sump and fully automated water change/dosing (similar to a saltwater setup).

2) Full carpet of dwarf sag (Sagittaria subulata) along with anubias/rotala for background

3) A healthy population of guppies (50-75) that live in the tank as natural feeders

4) A healthy population of cherry red shrimps (300+).

4) One super red asian arowana, start as a baby and watch it grow to full size.

It will be such a beautiful setup, maybe after i retire in 40 years, i will move to outside of US and finally be able to do it :drool:

Now, I dont want to be seen as advocating the keeping of a species of fish banned from the US but... doesn't SOMEBODY import Asian arrowanas? Of all the other illegal animals I have seen/heard of people possessing, I can't see how those asian arrowanas can't be had in thsi country.

In my 150 I have an oscar, 2 gold sevs, a P. polleni, some silver dollars, pictus cats, and a few plecos. After seeing all those fish getting grown up, those are the biggest fish I would keep in a tank that size. My 200gal is going SW now, for my green spotted puffer and some other SW predators. If I could get something more towards 1000gal or more I would think about a silver aro, some of the larger cats, maybe a school of bala sharks.

Several people are importing them... one guy found an asian at a Wall-Mart. Doesn't mean ya should keep it.

Anyways, i would set up a 500g with some delhizzi, ornate, and "albino" senegal bichirs, a platinum silver arowana, and a piebald munbi :grinyes:

If limited to 300 g- a Fahaka puffer. If allowed to build a 1500g super tank- a full grown Mbu puffer. Never heard of one getting to it's full 26 in size. Would love to raise one to that.
