If you could only have a single brand in your fishroom for filtration, which would you pick?

and yes, I realize there are more brands ;)

Def. Aquaclear but my LFS doesnt carry them

garr this one is hard. for canister filter i would have gone with Eheim or Marineland (though sunsun looks good if i was buying alot of canister filters), for HOB filter i would say aquaclear.

btw i voted Eheim because those are my main filters right now

I voted Marineland because I have an Emperor 280 power filter as well as the C360 canister which I got both used, and they still run awesome. I've also had some cheapos that worked fine, but I just can't get over the customization possibilities with the Marinelands, the quality, and the price.

I almost picked Eheim for the reputation and high quality, but the price always gets me.

Shouldn't fluval and aquaclear be together since they are both made by Hagen?

Anyways, I agree that it depends on the type of filter. For a HOB I always go AC, but for canister I'm not so sure...my only experience is with Rena (API I believe) but have always heard good things about Eheim.

By design if I only had 1 choice in brand, the brand would have to incorporate proven superior circumference filtration technology and a bottom motor design. Since Fluval makes the largest volume capacity (5 gallons) in this design (circumference/bottom motor) with the highest GPH (600) and is the cheapest canister filter per filtration capacity ($220/400 gallons=$0.55 per gallon). I would have to say there is only one clear, self evident, and obvious choice, Fluval. Of course the Marineland Magnum 350 for these same reasons would come in second ($100/100 gallons=$1 per gallon).

If I have to choose among the HOB's I would go with AquaClear as first choice and the Marineland as a second choice.

When you state Marineland there is a large selection from HOB/HOT, and canister.

The AquaClears are quicker and easier to repair and service IMO. I also feel they are a bit more versatile.

I'd go with Marineland, I have an Emperor 280 with some mileage on it, it still runs like a top.
