i was at the lfs yesterday and saw a lady buying a leopard puffer for her cichlid tank. the cashier kept trying to persuade her not to get it but she was very firm on saying she knew what she was doing. i just thought that was kind of amusing and sad at the same time (for the fish) :( i wanted to slap her and take the puffer from her. sadly i had to hold back.

Some people will only learn from experience sadly enough. And as tempting as it is to walk up to them and give them a lecture, we must hold ourselves back and let them learn, as many of us had to do. But yeah, its horrible to be in that position. :(

lol thats like when nemo first came out you would hear people say i have some neons and guppys how would they go with a clown fish lol and it took so long for the person to telk them that they are salt water. lol

i think it was wrong that i didnt at least try to say something. even though the cashier was trying to persuade her, i could have at least tried too. all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. i know that might be considered a stretch but i think it is the same principle.

A couple of months ago at the LFS I noticed a couple bustling around the tanks. They had a grab bag with at least 5 bags full of fish and were still energetically running around to get more fish. I had the impression that the woman was mentally challenged by the way she was acting and I "think" that they had no idea what they were doing but what could I do? Tackle them and take away the fish?

I personally believe that, by the woman's excitement level, they were just setting up a brand new tank with no idea what they were doing and most or all of those fish are dead by now.

It's a futile position.
