How do you determine how many gallons your tank is? I bought my tank from craigslist a while ago and can't remember whether it was listed as a 25 gal or a 29 gal. I know, DUH. The dimensions are 30" long x 13" high x 12 1/2" deep.
Is this the dumbest question you've seen? Sorry

It's length x width x height (in inches) divided by 231 = how many gallons are in your tank.

However, your tank is not a 25 or a 29 - a 25 is 16" tall and a 29 is 18" tall (wit the same footprint as your tank). Your tank is a 20 long.

21.103896 to be exact (how's that for dorky lol!)
Well that sucks. Talk about false advertizing! I guess $40 is a good deal either way. Guess I won't be adding anymore fish anytime soon. (maybe only one or two  )

WOW Now that IS dorky!! LOL! You got me beat!! :bowing:

I dont recall where I saw it, but there was one that took your gravel depth, and a bunch of other things into account(including interior dimensions) and told you your actual water volume. You'd be suprised how much that stuff displaces.

I've seen that one also, kind of been looking for it but not searching for it if you know what I mean.

Seems I was mis-informed about my tank volume as well... rather than having a 55g as I thought, (was sold to me as 55) it seems I have a 50g. I don't bother taking out volume for gravel... I know I have 60 lbs of gravel, but between my 2 filters I have approx. 3.5 gallons of water that isn't accomodated for in the tank size. I figure it'll average itself out. Looks like I'll have to update my sig now... :-P
